They Are Not Always Free...

All year long, you heard about how Memphis had the inability to make free throws when it counted. It counted last night...and they proved the skeptics correct. This game was highly entertaining...the athleticism was unreal. Guys from both teams were ball-hawking like Mom's shopping for Nintendo Wii's during Christmas. Both Kansas and Memphis played tremendous defense, and left everything on the floor. Unfortunately for John Calipari's Tiger's, they left it all on the floor in regulation. Mario Chalmers hits the shot heard 'round Lawrence and sends the Jayhawks into OT, after being down 9 points with two minutes remaining:

Once OT got going, it became very evident that Memphis was wore out. Kansas was able to send waves of long, quick guards at Rose and CDR all evening long, and it eventually paid off. CDR was obviously fatigued during his last four free throw attempts, short-arming each one off the front rim, and Rose was cramping up like he just crushed a pizza and went for a swim.

Rock, chalk, Jayhawk...what a tournament!
